How to Reset Your HAT Collective Standing Desk Base — Step by Step Guide

If your HAT Collective standing desk base is not responding or won't go up, don't panic — it likely just needs a quick reset. This is a common issue that can be resolved in minutes without any tools or technical knowledge. Follow the simple steps below to get your desk back up and running.

Step by Step Reset Instructions

Step 1: Check All Connections

Before attempting a reset, make sure everything is properly connected:

  • Check that the power cable is firmly plugged into the wall outlet
  • Make sure the power connector is fully snapped into the base — it should click securely into place
  • Double check all cable connections between the legs and the control box

Step 2: Locate the Reset Button

Once all connections are confirmed, look at your HAT Collective base control panel. You will see a button labeled RST — this is the reset button. At this stage your desk may not respond to the up button, which is completely normal before the reset is completed.

Step 3: Hold Down the Down Arrow

To begin the reset process:

  • Press and hold down the down arrow button on your control panel
  • Keep holding it down — the desk will begin lowering
  • Continue holding until the desk reaches its absolute lowest point
  • Do not release the button until the desk has fully stopped moving downward

Step 4: Test the Up Button

Once the desk has reached its lowest position the reset is complete. You should now be able to:

  • Press the up arrow to raise the desk normally
  • Use all programmed height memory settings as usual
  • Adjust the desk up and down without any issues

Why Does a HAT Collective Desk Need Resetting?

Standing desk bases occasionally lose their height calibration, especially after:

  • A power outage or surge
  • Moving or reassembling the desk
  • Unplugging and replugging the power cable
  • The desk hitting an obstruction during movement

A reset recalibrates the motor system so the desk knows its lowest and highest positions again. This is completely normal and does not indicate any damage or defect.

Frequently Asked Questions

My desk still won't move after the reset — what do I do?
Make sure you held the down arrow all the way to the lowest point without releasing. Try the reset process again and hold the button until the desk completely stops moving. If the issue persists contact HAT Collective support or reach out to us directly.

Do I need any tools to reset my HAT Collective base?
No tools required. The reset is done entirely through the control panel handset — just the down arrow button.

Will resetting the base erase my saved height presets?
Yes — a reset may clear your saved memory positions. After resetting simply reprogram your preferred heights using the memory buttons on your handset.

How often should I reset my standing desk base?
Only when needed. Most users never need to reset their base more than once or twice. Regular resets are not required for normal operation.

Where can I find more HAT Collective support resources?
Visit the HAT Collective Installation Resources page for manuals, guides, and support documentation.
